KC CareLink’s mission is to:

  • Incrementally build and operate a regional information exchange for safety net providers to securely exchange data and communicate with each other;

  • Implement additional data exchange projects that build on the KC CareLink technology foundation and expand the utility and value of the network to our community; and

There are 14 safety net providers from throughout bi-state metropolitan region using KC CareLink. They represent the diverse providers that care for the under and uninsured population, including: Federally Qualified Health Centers, free clinics, community service clinics, hospitals, health departments, ambulance service, and referral centers.

KC CareLink provides a 24/7 resource to over 500 users at 19 separate sites. We maintain a database with over 185,000 unduplicated patients, support KCCL software applications used to create, manage and report on thousands of referrals between safety net providers each year, and develop additional functionality as needs are identified and validated.

KC CareLink has over seven years of success in developing and operating an information sharing network in our community. This has been achieved using a highly collaborative process where health care organizations contribute knowledge and expertise to technical, functional, relationship, process, and policy issues inherent in this endeavor
