What Is KC CareLink?

KC CareLink was established in 2001 as a collaborative project of Kansas City healthcare safety-net providers. Together they have developed a shared electronic information network that connects participating organizations to a central database where authorized users can access KC CareLink applications using a web browser to share a uniform set of individual patient information (name, contact information, insurance, medical record number, etc.).

KC CareLink provides a 24 / 7 resource to safety net clinics, hospitals and health departments in our bi-state metropolitan region. We maintain a database with over 139,000 unduplicated patients, support KCCL software applications that are used to create, manage and report on thousands of referrals between safety net providers each year, and develop additional functionality as needs are identified and validated.

HIPAA compliance has been built into all aspects of the project, ensuring confidentiality and security of individual patient information.
