Work groups provide the principle input and oversight for KC CareLink’s development. The Operations and Referrals Group with members representing all of the participating organizations meet frequently to keep KC CareLink moving ahead.

For the past two years, KC CareLink participants have worked through many complex technical, structural, and cultural issues in order to build the foundation that enables them to electronically share critical information about the many patients they jointly serve. The result is a solid technical database infrastructure on which the safety-net providers can build additional functionality for the mutual benefit of their patients, providers, and the community.

As they plan for the future, KC CareLink participants are assessing opportunities to:

• Collaborate and integrate with other existing and developing electronic networks;
  
  
• Design and develop additional applications that will benefit multiple organizations and ultimately patient care; and
  
  
• Share resources and expertise.
